Branding & WordPress Website Project

After years of providing care as part of a larger groups, Dr. Margaret Houston, made the decision to start her own practice. Our work included naming her new practice, DoBePlay, developing the brand identity and marketing assets including the website and business cards.

Dr. Houston specializes in Sandtray therapy, a form of play therapy commonly used in child and adolescent care but effective for all ages and stages. The website offers prospective clients both an insight into what care looks like at DoBePlay as well as supplemental resources including books and websites.

The project was geared at creating a brand and brand presence for Dr. Houston. The brand needed to be approachable but still convey authority and experience. The website was to serve as validation for her practice as well as offer online scheduling.

DoBePlay WordPress website

Visual branding.

The logo was done largely as a working “done-for-you” design project. The logo needed to capture the whimsy of play but also feel structured and reliable. The design elements also needed to match the the same feelings as conveyed by the action verbs within the company name (Do-Be-Play).

Brand messaging.

The challenge in developing DoBePlay’s company messaging was finding the right words to connect with disparate audiences. Dr. Margaret serves a wide range of individuals from parents of autistic children to individual clients overcoming trauma. To make the messaging broadly applicable and appealing, we focused on the common identify transformation of “From surviving to thriving” as that idea applies across ages and stages. Another common thread used was the modality of sand tray therapy as a specialization, and how it can be used in a variety of therapeutic cases.

Therapy is work, but it doesn’t always have to feel like work. Together, we’ll discover the solutions that work for you and your family so you can finally feel confident, in-charge, and know what it means to not just survive but truly thrive.

Simple Practice online scheduling integration

Online scheduling.

An important function for the website was online scheduling. Integration with client’s scheduling platform, Simple Practice, allows prospective clients to book an intake appointment, and for existing clients to book and manage their appointment schedule schedule.

Resource library.

Using WordPress’s core post functionality, we created a resource library intended to provide supplemental content to clients, including books, websites and inspiration. The library is presented in a colorful and playful way, and features a filter so users can narrow in on the type of content they’re looking for. Most squares are functional and bring the user to that resource in a new browser tab.
